Insurance Claims

Filing a claim with your insurance can be a bit daunting, especially when it’s an emergency situation. Luckily, we have your back!

Here are some helpful steps to get started with your insurance claim
with Green Slate Roofing and your insurance company.

Step 1: Call Green Slate for a free inspection

Instead of calling your insurance company first, have Green Slate come out and inspect your roof for free. You may not have any damage and you don’t want a claim to count against you. We provide free inspections and a detailed report for your use.

Step 2: Contact your insurance company

Now that you have an inspection report and know if there is damage, you can file your claim on your homeowner’s policy. Your insurance company will probably ask if you’ve had an inspection and if you have a contractor selected. Insurance companies have preferred contractors, but it is entirely your choice what contractor you use.

Step 3: Joint roof walkthrough with your adjuster

Green Slate Roofing can walk the roof with your insurance adjuster so the damage is documented consistently. Photos and notes from the walkthrough get attached to your file. This usually shortens the timeline for approval. The claim itself stays in your name — we’re documenting damage as your contractor, not representing you with the carrier.

Step 4 - schedule roof service

Step 5: Completion and Payment

Your out-of-pocket cost is typically your policy deductible (your policy controls the exact amount). Your insurance company pays you for the approved scope; you pay Green Slate when the work is complete. Standard contractor-to-homeowner billing.

What this means in practice. Green Slate Roofing & Siding is your roofing contractor — not an insurance adjuster, attorney, or claim representative. Approvals, denials, supplements, and payment timing are decisions between you and your insurance carrier. Our job is to inspect, document, scope, and complete the roofing work. If you have questions about that scope, ask us. If you have questions about your policy, ask your carrier or an independent licensed professional.
